Many of you know that my parents live in New Orleans. I last talked to my mother on Sunday. They had rounded up all the animals and were evacuating to Houston. I don't currently know if they returned to the city between the time the hurricane passed and when the levees broke. I very much doubt it, but I don't know for certain. I have been unable to reach them via phone, given the lines are jammed. I'm fairly sure they are perfectly safe in Houston, but I would feel much more comfortable knowing with certainty.
[UPDATE: I managed to get through to my mother, and they are fine. She will be in Cheyenne tomorrow, with the few dozen animals. My stepfather is going in with the Guard to check out the house (which apparently did not get flooded, but a tree is leaning against it - wholly acceptable) and grab a few things. Because of his recent retirement from the Navy, they will move my parents anywhere in the country within the next few years. I'm guessing they will not choose to stay in New Orleans.]

Thanks, I definitely will, though nothing much will happen from here, at least nothing personal. My family is luckier than most.
Oh, I missed this one for some reason. Glad to hear your family (and extended animal family) are okay. Thank goodness they are some of the luckier ones.
