At my school, we don't automatically get an assigned library carrel. I take that back, 1Ls don't automatically get an assigned library carrel. There are only so many to go around, so there is a lottery. Everyone puts their name in the appropriate box for their class, and the names are drawn starting with the 3Ls. By the time the lottery gets to the 1Ls, there are not enough carrels for all who want them. This means there will be a bunch of disappointed 1Ls wandering around.
Last year, I was among that group. Not this time. The lottery is tonight, and I'm really looking forward to it. No more searching for decent library spots!

But in all seriousness, I don't know how you can stand it, I have to vary my library spots. After one starts to smell and get dirty, I vary it up a bit and go somewhere else. Sometimes I want to be where I can see people (so the "voices" are quieter) and then other times I don't wanna be able to see anyone.

Thanks, sometimes the geek peeks through. I like having my own little place, and good study spots are hard to come by. I did ok in the lottery, though I didn't manage to get as near a window I would like.
