So I think I'm going to register independent the next time I vote. While my personal political beliefs tend to be very liberal, I'm getting kind of sick of party politics. I won't bore you with a recitation of what I dislike, since a lot of other people have said the same thing. It's not a rare thing, I know.
In other news, a deputy sheriff came to my door at 7 am today looking for the previous resident of my house. That was odd.
I'm here in my new house with, that's right, sweet, sweet internet.
I'm seriously loving the house. It's within walking distance of work, so I've walked every day. It's quite a change from my old place, which was actually outside city limits. The only problem is that things aren't quite as centralized as in Laramie. There's only one grocery store within walking distance, and it's a bit small and sketchy. I can pick up a few things on my way home, but not much. Still, I figure I can get the other, harder to find items on the weekend--it still cuts down quite a bit on my car use.
Also, I've been loving the job. I won't get more specific, but I've worked on some issues that I find really interesting, and I'm looking forward to going in today.
Finally, it's actually a pleasure to pay bills now that I'm back to getting a salary. It was difficult for me to go from making what was a decent living to becoming a full-time student. Now, I can actually resume trying to get my net worth above zero. It'll take a while, but it feels good to know I'm making progress.
I'll try to have some more cat photos next week when I unpack my camera (the unpacking is pretty slow, I'm afraid). I'm cleaning my old place this weekend so that it'll be ready to sell. Hopefully, I'll be freed of that little shackle pretty soon.
Things are a little crazy. This weekend is the last moving day (with any luck at all), so I'm getting the last of my crap out of my old place and into the new.
The cats were really freaked out. They both spent yesterday morning cowering under the (cast iron claw-foot) bathtub. I managed to drag Sebastian out at lunch, but didn't get Jupiter out until after I got home from work. They seem to be doing fine now, after a day with me there. They really want to get to the basement, but I'm not ready for them to be running around down there quite yet. I would have cowering cat pictures, but my camera was packed.
I would say one mistake was to bring them over in the morning. I should have waited so that I could be there more while they were released. Live and learn, I suppose.
Anyway, not that I've been posting a ton lately, but it may be a bit lighter for a while. I don't have the internet set up at the new place yet, and I don't blog from work. I'll post when I get back on the tubes.
I really cannot wait to get moved--but I hate the moving process itself.
I closed on my new house on Monday, and I've been taking car loads of boxed junk over to my new town every day as I go to work. It's actually amazing how much I can fit in my little Nissan Altima sedan. I'd just do that to move, but I unfortunately have a few really big pieces of furniture that won't fit in anything smaller than a moving truck. I'm hoping that Sunday is the day for getting every last little item out of my old place and into the new.
I'm enjoying having a real job, too. Even with a mortgage payment that is many times more than I was paying before, I'm managing to pay things off, which is very blissful and relaxing for me. Yesterday I paid off my car. I just love looking at my balance on the website: "$0.00." Oh, it's glorious.
Soon, other debts will be paid off, as well.
Now the only stress (once the move is done, of course) will be waiting for bar exam results. But since I can't expect them for a month or two anyway, I can relax a bit.
