Man, I love this holiday. I spent about six hours cooking last night, baking dinner rolls, prepping the stuffing, making the pumpkin pie (from fresh pumpkin this year), making cranberry sauce (with pears and ginger), and a few other things. At the moment, I'm cooking the turkey giblets and neck. The juices will go in the gravy, and the solids will go for the cats.
I'm actually trying out a bunch of new recipes this year. Normally, I don't like cranberry sauce, so I don't make it. Stuffing is usually too much of a bother for me, and my pumpkin pie recipe is brand new. Part of my reasoning is that I have a guest this year, so I want to provide a broad spectrum of food. Plus I just feel like going all out.
So happy Thanksgiving to all. I know everyone has something to be thankful for, so take a little time to notice it today.
