The Omen

I saw The Omen a couple weeks ago.  It was the original with Gregory Peck, of course.  The most interesting thing for me is the role that predestination played in the film.  Of course, the whole antichrist story was supposed to have been prophesied, but I’m also talking about the death forecast photos that the David Warner character took of everyone.  The film goes out of its way to establish that things predicted or signaled will come to pass.  Yet, the main characters spent the bulk of the movie trying to stop that predicted future.  Of course, they fail.  It’s an unusually fatalistic movie in the horror genre, I think.  Interesting.

I also saw Doubt this weekend.  Not much to say about it that you haven’t already heard, so I’ll just add that I really liked it.  Recommended.
